The word Gospel means “good news.” The Gospel of the Christian faith is good news. It is the good news of what God has done to save you from the penalty of your sins.
The Bibles teaches that every human being is a sinner. We are born in sin, and continue to live in sin, which is rebellion against God’s commandments, all our lives.
The justice of God requires that sinners pay for their sins. This means you deserve the wrath of God against you for your disobedience against Him. However, He has provided a way for you to be forgiven of your sin in the person and work of Jesus.
Jesus was sent from His eternal glory in Heaven to earth, where He took on human nature, and walked on this earth as a true human being.
Jesus was born perfect, and He lived a perfect life under the Law of God.
Jesus then fulfilled His Father’s will, and all the Biblical prophecies about Him, by dying on a Roman cross to pay for the sins of God’s people. His death sufficiently satisfies the wrath of God on behalf of sinners.
Jesus was then resurrected by God, where He then ascended back to Heaven to reign as Lord over all the universe, and intercede on behalf of those for whom He died.
